Identify the route a person using a mobility device would take from parking, seating, the ceremony, the work area, or the public sidewalk. Look for firm, stable ground and avoid placing the unit behind cords, tables, fencing, or muddy areas.
Coordinate with the event or site plan
For public events, venue rules and permit documents may control placement. Portland Parks & Recreation notes that public-event applications can involve preliminary site plans or route maps.[1] Use that process to raise accessibility questions early.
Pair access with hygiene
A handwashing station can support guests, workers, vendors, and families, but it needs its own footprint and approach. Keep it close enough to be useful while avoiding a bottleneck at the restroom entrance.
